THE NEYSTING MOVEMENT

We believe that the Neysting experience can offer you a moment of connection or re-connection. With yourself and with nature. Inspired by everything from ancient Nordic craftsmanship, Faroese rowboats and hiking trips, we have created an experience aimed at nurturing and reconnection with ones inner self.

Big words for a little company, from a small country such as the Faroe Islands. A place most people have never heard of or even know the existence of. But this is our force, this is our secret. We know how meaningful it feels to be connected with wild nature. We know the deep feelings of experiencing stillness. We know the importance of cultural heritage. These are some of the things we want to share with you. Through the Neysting experience.

Let’s face it, we live in a fast paced world full of technology, stress and detachment from raw nature. Is it any wonder that you sometimes feel that you have trouble sleeping, or experience that it is hard to find clarity, to be present in day to day life or even find time to read that book you have been wanting to open?

What we all need sometimes is a moment of pause.

What we all need sometimes is to reflect and notice if the direction and path we are on feels right.

What we all need sometimes is right in front of our eyes but we do everything we can to look away.

As they say, the first step is the hardest - sometimes all you need is a gentle push.

The ‘BátaBólið’ experience awaits you

Is it a floating tent? Sort of, but not really. Is it like a hotel? Definitely not and don’t expect room service and throw away towels. Listen, we have had a hard time describing this innovative product we have developed and have named ‘BátaBólið’. Faroese for ‘boatbed’, ‘BátaBólið’ is carefully crafted from Faroese natural resources, locally produced and inspired by Faroese cultural heritage - especially in regards to boats.

The shape of BátaBólið is created with the traditional Faroese rowing boat in mind. The construction is formed by ten wooden frames covered in a canvas entirely made of Faroese wool, woven in the same way that the traditional woolen sails were. Bátabólið is five metres long and is suitable for up to two adults and two children.

Faroese boathouses

‘BátaBólið’ hangs in Faroese boathouses, close to the sea. The word ‘neyst’ actually means boathouse in Faroese. Listen to the sounds of waves as you are lulled to sleep. And wake up revitalized - ready for a new day full of new steps and adventure.

Travel inwards out in the open

Ask yourself: “what is traveling?”. What does going on a journey mean? We believe in the notion of the unknown. Neysting is dedicated to inspire a truly unique experience of traveling. We offer you, the traveler, an overnight stay emerged in innovative design, architectural heritage and Faroese nature. Unique and unlike anything you have tried before. A journey into the unknown.

Guided by fascination, respect and deep feelings for nature, old wisdom, aesthetics, sensuousness, architecture and the Faroe Islands, this combination is what makes the Neysting experience a truly unique overnight stay.

The Faroe Islands

For us, in the Neysting team, we describe the Faroe Islands (or ‘Føroyar’ in faroese) as home. We are all of Faroese descent and share many experiences in the breathtaking nature, on the open sea, in the grass covered valleys that have more sheep than inhabitants and rock-strewn mountains, with birds flying high in the sky.

We want to welcome you. We offer you to travel, to take a path into the unknown. Take part in the Neysting movement.
